According to the COVID-19 dashboard of the Ghana Health Service as of August 4, active cases of COVID-19 stand at 6,276. Out of that number, the latest newly recorded cases in the country is 518.
The country has recorded 844 deaths since the disease was first recorded in the country out of 10,5512 confirmed cases. It must be noted that there has been 98,392 recoveries or discharges out of the number of the confirmed cases.
At the usual press briefing by the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, indicated that Volta, Bono and Bono East Regions have emerged as hotspots of COVID-19 in the country.
According to the Ghana Health Service COVID-19 dashboard, the Volta Region has recorded an accumulated cases of 3,177 with 438 active cases. Bono Region has recorded 1,666 accumulated cases with 168 active cases. Also, Bono East Region has recorded 1,671 accumulated cases with 138 active cases.
There is a general surge in the cases of COVID-19 in the country. The active cases being recorded in the Volta Region has given an indication of increasing number of case in schools among students. The Ghana Health Service is still cautioning the general public to adhere to the safety protocols to prevent infection.
To prevent infection of COVID-19, wash your hands with soap and water before touching anything including your eyes, nose and mouth; cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze; and disinfect the objects and surfaces you touch. If you are sick, stay home and avoid crowds and contact with others.
