Diana Hamilton was adjudged the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year. VGMA is the biggest music awards event in Ghana which is organized to honour well-deserving artistes. The 2021 version of the awarding event saw Diana Hamilton taking the Gospel Artiste of the Year as well as the overall Artiste of the Year award at the just organized VGMA (2021).
Diana Hamilton is a Ghanaian gospel musician who was born to Apostle Elvis Antwi and Comfort Antwi in Kumasi, Ghana. She is the third of eight children of her parents.
She had her basic education at Morning Star School, Cantonments, Accra. She further attended Ghana National College at Cape Coast, Ghana. After her second cycle education at Ghana National College, she studied Nursing which she currently still practices.
Diana Hamilton is married to Dr. Joseph Hamilton and they have a set of twins named Michael and Michaela.
Diana Hamilton began her singing career very early. She started as a backing vocalist for Francis Agyei and later released her debut album titled, “Ɔsoro bɛkasa” (Heaven will speak) in 2007. Her debut album had tremendous airplay which made her so popular and a household name to gospel music lovers.
After 3 years she, later on, released her second album entitled, “Ensi wo yie” (May it be well with you) in 2010. Her second album also performed so well and in 2019, she was one of the headline artistes for the Harvest Praise (a big annual gospel song event in Ghana) which took place at the Fantasy Dome in Accra, Ghana.
After her second album, it didn’t take her that long to release the third album. Her third album was released in 2011. The title of her third album is “Blessings”. Then she released her fourth album in 2015, entitled, “Yehowah”.
Diana Hamilton has become so popular in the music industry, especially to Gospel music lovers, that she was unveiled with another popular artiste Kofi Kinaata (a high life/hip life musician in Ghana) as the Brand Ambassadors of Enterprise Life (an insurance company in Ghana).
She was one of the headline artistes for the just-ended 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and she opened the second day of the event with a sterling performance with Joe Mettle (another popular Gospel musician in Ghana, who won the VGMA Artiste of the Year as a Gospel Musician for the first time).
Before the 2021 VGMA Awards night, Diana Hamilton had huge supports and campaigns from social media users as well as a former chairman of the Church of Pentecost (a large church denomination in Ghana) in the person of Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah. The said former chairman call for support for Diana on his social media handle on Facebook.
