The app is called “Eye on Corruption App.” The with funding support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The app was developed under the program they call Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC).
Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII)
Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) is the local chapter of Transparency International (TI).
Established in 1999, Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) is a non-partisan, non-profit civil organisation focused on addressing corruption. GII is the Ghana Chapter of Transparency International (TI), the global, non-governmental, non-profit civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption through more than 90 chapters and over 30 individual members worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany.
They have the vision of “a corruption-free society where all people and institutions act accountably, transparently and with integrity.”
Their mission is “to fight corruption and promote good governance in the daily lives of people and institutions by forging strong, trusting and effective partnership with government, business and civil society and engagement with the people.”
Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC)
The Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC) was created to provide an avenue for people and corporate bodies, who either become victims or witnesses of corrupt practices, to seek legal advice to pursue the cases with the appropriate authority.
Eye on Corruption App
Eye on Corruption App is a mobile application which allows people to report/submit a corruption related complaint to the Ghana Integrity Initiative’s Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC). In only a few simple steps, you can report on the nature, number, type, location, frequency and value of actual corruption acts on this app.
Eye on Corruption App is geared towards seeking redress to corruption related cases for victims of corruption and gathering the necessary evidence for public policy reforms. This application requires internet connectivity in order to submit complaints, as well as receive feedback from PRCU or GII. Data collected is not meant to assign blame or expose the complainant but rather inform advocacy for good governance, transparency and accountability.
The app is simple, secure, responsive, and user-friendly. The app has unique and interactive user interfaces suitable for users between the ages of 15 and 70. The app has clear and easy screen navigations, which makes submission of corruption complaints swift and efficient.
Some specific features of the app are:
Push Notifications
Easier to send than emails and less likely to end up in a spam folder, the app utilizes push notifications as means of sending feedback messages to all users.
Security
As Internet security continues to become an ever-increasing necessity, all complaints and sensitive information submitted through this App are encryted using advanced hashing technology.
Simple Layout
The app has clear, uncluttered screens with obvious leads to the next navigation screens. With no ambiguity, user experience is improved and their activity log is easily accessible.
The app is available for download, for free, on Apple Store and Play Store.
