HTU VC Addressed GNAT Volta 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference

On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, the Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, addressed the opening session of the 6th Quadrennial Regional Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in Ho.

As the Guest Speaker, Prof. Honyenuga addressed the Conference on theme, ‘GNAT @90, Surviving as the Reliable and Vibrant Teacher Union in the 21st Century; Addressing Challenges facing the Ghanaian Teacher.’

He underscored the critical role teachers play in the socio-economic development of the nation, and applauded them for their sacrifices towards education delivery in the country.

He also emphasized the need for stakeholders, including government to prioritize the welfare and wellbeing of teachers, by having a holistic overhaul of their conditions of service, to commensurate with their contribution to national development.

Prof. Honyenuga lauded the association for its contribution towards the welfare of members, through its various social intervention initiatives, and urged them to strike strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders to further advance the course of teachers.

The ceremony held at the GM Afeti Auditorium of HTU, was graced by several dignitaries including representatives from the Trades Union Congress, Sister Teacher Unions, Ghana Education Service, among others.
