Prosper Datsomor is a student of Ave Dzalele D/A JHS in the Volta Region of the Republic of Ghana. He is currently in Form 3, getting ready to write Basic Education Certificate Examination in November 2021. However, due to a serious health condition he is having, he is unable to concentrate on his studies.
It started as a little swell in the right eye but gets worse every passing day. Prosper comes from a very poor family which does not have the capability to support or foot his medical bills for the treatment of his case.
Initial medical tests conducted at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Supreme Specialist Scan and Dental Clinic in Accra indicate that Prosper has developed a cancerous tumor which keeps spreading every passing day. Currently, the condition has starting affecting the second eye too.
The specialists say Prosper would have to undergo further tests for his treatment to beginning. They added that the treatment has to be done early to save his sight and life. Prosper lives with the mother in a small thatch hut and could not afford to pay the bills for his survival.
The initial tests were made possible as a result of contributions of money made by Prosper’s teachers, because his family could not afford the amount involved.
The attention of The Trusted Media was drawn to the situation and we seek to do a story on Prosper’s case to attract philanthropists, corporate institutions or NGOs to come to the aid of the young boy so that his sight and life could be saved.
